Hazmat Classes
The next round of BC/CI/Rad will be held at Kittrell VFD in July and August on Mon and Thursday nights.
HMTO: The HMTO dates have been set and approved by the state’s Hazmat Institute. As you will recall, this HMTO is designed specifically for volunteers and is run on the night & weekend format. These venues are rare and typically only one is approved per year in the whole state. We are lucky to get this authorization and now need to show that we’re ready to take advantage of the opportunity. As the old saying goes, “Luck favors the prepared mind.”
Here is the basic schedule for HMTO. RCEMA will host the course here in Murfreesboro and Steve Mayer will act as the Lead Instructor. You’ll note that the schedule is catered toward the volunteer community to allow for their participation and still work their day job. We have received many requests to run an HMTO in this format and possess a large pool of Ops-Level individuals desiring to advance to Hazmat Technician.
- The course will be conducted in the night & weekend format utilizing three consecutive weekday nights plus all day Saturday.
- Using these days allocates 20 classroom hours per week over four week of study while incorporating reasonable time for study and individual prep.
- We will run the class starting on 4 Jan 11 and completing on 5 Feb 11 as follows:
- Week One class days will be 4/5/6 (1800hrs to 2200hrs) and 8 Jan (0800hrs to 1700hrs)
- Week Two class days will be 11/12/13 (1800hrs to 2200hrs) and 15 Jan (0800hrs to 1700hrs)
- In order to allow for study time, personal commitments, mid-term review of the material, and workplace scheduling, the HMTO students will take a one-week sabbatical.
- Week Three class days will be 25/26/27 (1800hrs to 2200hrs) and 29 Jan (0800hrs to 1700hrs)
- Week Four class days will be 1/2/3 (1800hrs to 2200hrs) and 5 Feb (0800hrs to 1700hrs)
